HOTH – started today….

…finished today. This is the Jazlyn baby hat pattern over on Snappy Tots. It has of course been altered as you all know I often do with patterns. The pattern is for a baby size and that is.just.adorable!! So I’m definitely going to do one in the original size of my baby.

This one I carried on the increasing rounds for a few then started to shape. After the layered colour rounds I added a few extra hdc rounds, then sc rounds and finished with a crab stitch round. I did also increase the length of the ‘tail’ at the beginning.

From what I can tell, I should have left out one or two increase rounds as I had to decrease on a few of the bottom white rounds so it actually fit again, hence the bulging part around the colour. But I’m happy, it works up quick and they are just so darn cute!

Done and done

I added the finishing touches to the poncho. Two rows of sc all around the edge and then I did v-stitch, 3sc all the way round, completing it with 5 tessel sets on each ‘arm’ (with each tassel being made from 6 stands, tied on then cut down to 4″ from the top of the knot).

I also only added one more round on the neck instead of two.

Not the best photos in the world as my phone is apparently afraid of the dark haha. But I’m proud of it and happy I actually finished on time, as well as winging it a bit to get the correct size. 😆

Almost complete

The fall poncho CAL is almost over (if I’d have kept up, technically I should have finished on Wednesday) but I fell behind a little. I have now stitched the two rectangles together and have started to add the neckline. I altered the pattern given slightly. I should have had 56 sc around but I incleased it to 80, then worked the hex row then to fphdc and bphdc as stated for the first row. I then fastened off and worked into the back of the first row of normal hdc, using dc, doing 2tog every 2and 3rd strict. After this I did fp and bp dc around.

And I am now going to add another two rounds to make the neck taller which can then be folded if needed. I did also have to add an extra 4 parts onto the ends of each to make them longer and give an actual head hole bigger than a Barbie, which means without the neckline, it would have sat just fine as it were, but I wanted something fancy haha. This way it’s taller and can keep more warm as well as having it’s ‘uniqueness’ of its grill type edge. I just need to do the border to the whole thing and decide if I want to add tassel bits.

I will keep you in the loop 🙂

Still alive and kicking

It’s been one of those weeks this week. Everything as decided to happen. Two deadlines for two university essays, all my children being riotous, with one deciding that sleep no longer exists on this planet of existence and therefore no-one else needs so. She will not go down for naps, she will not go to bed and when she does eventually stop screaming over an hour after she’s been put down to sleep, she wakes from anywhere around 11 to scream the place down until 5 when we come downstairs in the morning. No-one is sleeping in this household! Hopefully it’s only temporary and it will stop quite sharpish.

It should make me happier as it means more crochet time technically but any time that’s free is going into finishing my essays but on a high point, I do have a week of no work before the next module so super lots of crafting to take place there haha.

Hoping everyone else us doing well and maybe having a bit more fun than me! 😆

Poncho

Finished on the two rectangles for now. Just waiting on part 8 to be released. As I previously mentioned, this round was using the x-stitch and it works up super quick with get affects 🙂

Fall Poncho CAL

Yes, it’s another CAL 😄 this time it’s a fall poncho courtesy of Crochet Memoeries and Country Willow (hoping I got that correct).

It is made of two identical rectangles with a multitude of different stitches giving a great texture that is always changing. I’m using DK I’m burgundy and black and it remeinds me of cold, dark, Autumn nights, sitting under a blanket by the fire and falling leaves…and bonfire toffee haha. It uses a 5mm hook (which is the second option giving a size 2 which is American termings for sizes, the other being a size 6 and 6mm hook with worsted (I think) yarb- both of which are child sizes). So far it seems to be following the correct gauge but whether it fits my daughter or not is a different matter.

I’ve finished the first rectangle and almost the second whichni started today as I’d finished the first yesterday and rather than waiting to finish in completely then start the secin, they will both be done for part 9 which is joing. Currently we are at part 6.

It does sit straight and flat really, it’s just laid across my lap at the moment 😀

What’s everyone working on? And what’s your favourite place to hook, knit, sew, you name?

Fall Poncho CAL

Yes…another haha this is the Fall Poncho CAL created by Crochet Memories and co. (If I have that correct as I know one of my WIPs is from these guys). I just love it, there’s so many textures going on, each set I’d a different stitch and there’s just so much umf to it. I believe I have the measurements right as it’s what was worked out when speaking with one of the co-designer’s.

It’s DK in burgundy and black, using a 5mm hook and is made up of two rectangles hounded together. So far it’s part 6 if the CAL and as I have fininshed the first rectangle, I thought I’d give the second one a look. I’m almost finished on part 6 of this one too so will be waiting til next week for part 7.

It does sit straight and flat, it’s just resting on my lap at current :).

Purple lace diamond toddler dress

I finally did it! I finished the toddler dress I was making. I had to adapt the last row (top row) of the bodice part because no matter what I did, the stitches just wouldn’t fit, even though the previous rows were all correct. I also extended the straps and added extra rows to the bottom to make it longer (as my daughter likes swooshy dresses). It should have a fabric material under layer but I like it as it is.

She just wouldn’t stay still for a decent picture haha
