Mother’s Day

So, for weeks now I have been working on a gift for my mother for mother’s day. I decided on a centre piece for her living room wall and this is what I came up with…

It is a series of doily chart patterns found on the images section of Google. So a massive shout out to all those talented people that can write patterns and charts for others to use. Thank you! It stands at 39.5″ x 23.5″ in size and it became mixed media when I had to fill spaces (which was before I finished all the doilies hahaha).

There is beading, crochet, paper flowers, gem stones and I was very much tempted to cover the thing in glitter….everyone loves glitter, especially the mess it makes xD…

It’s not the best lighting but I had to take pictures. The colours work with my mums colour scheme, with the wood in her room and the silver/chrome work through the use of the gems. Its a mixture of cotton thread and cur change (very thin) dk and a range of hook sizes…….

….so now this is done and dusted and in time for mother’s day (finishing in the day still counts haha). Onto the next project.

Dutch CAL 2015 Week 13

I have now completes week 13 of this CAL. It now sits at a nice 40″ across, with another 22 weeks left of pattern. That means many more rounds as it is not one round per week.

I swear it lays flat and straight, its just a little more difficult to smooth out every time I finish a part haha.

There is a pale brown/beige sc round I’m this edge section that is worked into the front loop created between two of the other rounds, giving a more textures effect.

Not the best photo and doesn’t show to well bit it’s there and that also sits properly if I have the patience to smooth it out.

Its so warm and chunky and lovely…I can’t wait to do some more.

HOTH – started today….

…finished today. This is the Jazlyn baby hat pattern over on Snappy Tots. It has of course been altered as you all know I often do with patterns. The pattern is for a baby size and that is.just.adorable!! So I’m definitely going to do one in the original size of my baby.

This one I carried on the increasing rounds for a few then started to shape. After the layered colour rounds I added a few extra hdc rounds, then sc rounds and finished with a crab stitch round. I did also increase the length of the ‘tail’ at the beginning.

From what I can tell, I should have left out one or two increase rounds as I had to decrease on a few of the bottom white rounds so it actually fit again, hence the bulging part around the colour. But I’m happy, it works up quick and they are just so darn cute!

Grace is on her way!!

Just completed the middle panel of 49 starburst motifs. It is joined with a continuous join starting in the bottom right, zig-zagging up the row, between each, then straight down the sides of that strip…rinse and repeat round to the starting point and you have a continuous join 😄 I have marked it in that bottom right corner to make sure I don’t forget which side is the right side and which corner needs to go…

From here, the blanket is worked in the round but I’ll keep you posted as and when I complete each section 🙂

The pictures are not the best quality so you cannot full appreciate how pretty it really is.

Done and done

I added the finishing touches to the poncho. Two rows of sc all around the edge and then I did v-stitch, 3sc all the way round, completing it with 5 tessel sets on each ‘arm’ (with each tassel being made from 6 stands, tied on then cut down to 4″ from the top of the knot).

I also only added one more round on the neck instead of two.

Not the best photos in the world as my phone is apparently afraid of the dark haha. But I’m proud of it and happy I actually finished on time, as well as winging it a bit to get the correct size. 😆

Dutch CAL

I have seen for a while now, a beautiful CAL that I wanted to take part in…one problem was that the instructions were in Dutch and I’m not a great Dutch speaking person haha. I could make out some words like lossen and was beginning to be able to read Dutch patterns and try to work from the pictures (which is also not one of my biggest strengths). The good news is, that the entire pattern is being translated! Whoop, we love you guys! Haha. So far the first 10 parts have been translated with the rest still in process. But I have worked up to round 11 on the first part so far.

I’ve gone for a neutral look with this one (although there is a giant flower in the middle). I changed the first 8 rounds to my own pattern, that I used from inspiration of another and then started with round 9 of the pattern.

I am now using worsted weight yarn (I feel like a big girl now, as I’ve only ever used DK). The beige round is two strands of dk as I didn’t have the right weight when I first started but that is fine and its roughly working up to a worsted size. It is thick though so this is definitely a winter blanket.

New page.

I have put up a new page for the Scheepjes 2015 CAL. Some pictures are to be loaded later and I plan on starting the Scheepjes 2014 CAL and the Moogly 2014 CAL as well as 2 others and in good time I will set pages up for those too. 😁

Sophie is on the go

17/7 – So I carried on with Sophie last night and I finished part 3 (25 rounds) it turns out I really love and get on with the crab stitch (reverse sc) who knew!! I’ve heard a lot about this stitch and mostly negative in how grim it is to do, but for me, I was able to wip it up in no time. In fact I did it faster than the normal sc. So anyways, here she is at a slightly bigger size of 22″ instead of what the pattern states of just shy of 20″ but oh well 😜 haha
