Dutch CAL

So the next rounds of the CAL are do e and I have already started the next set. I’m in love with this pattern. Its just so pretty, don’t you just agree? Haha

These last few rounds were tricky as they are what I’d call, flimsy, until you start getting further out and stabilising them but I got there.

I’m sure you’re surprised but….

Yes, I have indeed started yet another project….it’s not my fault, its all you designers out there that fuel my addiction hahaha.

The CAL is by Mistie Bush over at American Crochet and is spread throughout the year starting today (7th Jan) and finishing 3rd November. The pattern called for worsted weight and a 5.5mm hook. I’ve opted for (only because I couldn’t wait to start and have used yarn in my stash) a brand here in the UK – The Knitting Basket DK although it works up slightly thicker than other DK, in red and cream (so similar in colour to what is suggested) and a 5mm hook. This gives my measurements as 46″ long and 2.5″ wide instead of the 52″ by 3″. However the yarn used is fairly stretchy so could probably add some length if i desire and it needs blocking as I did my chain slightly too tight so it doesn’t sit flat, but I’m sure this will sort.

This is the first part of the CAL – the first 6 rows.

I’m excited to see what comes next as each new part is released on a Thursday, twice monthly, so a little wait but I’m sure I’ll find something to do in the meantime.

Sophie – Part 5

I have just completed part 5 of Sophie’s Universe by Dedri (isn’t she a wonderful lady) and what a beautiful pattern it is so far. I know many have already completed a Sophie and others have done multiple ones and they are all fantastic. So here is my updated one.

I’m using James C Brett Oyster double knit yarn in white, oyster, pewter and black and a 5.5mm hook. She now stands at a size of 29.5×29.5″ (or about 75x75cm).

Its now onto part 6 😀

Merry Christmas and all that jazz

Its that time of year again where there is so much mess, chaos and noise that you can’t think straight and start wondering if you’ve burnt the food for the first time all year – Christmas day. The glory of our so much celebrated holiday. Its been a dreary day where I live, along with all the chaos and running around just like that turkey in the over…headless…ah but we’ve survived and alas, the house is silent and a well warned rest with hook or needles and some tasty, tasty yarn can be had. Which is exactly what I’ve been doing.

Today I picked Sophie back up. Oh how I’ve missed her…remind me not to put her down again until I’m done. I ha e also been working on other projects, as you all know most recently I completed an evil minion commission and then started the kitty cat tote. Well in good old fashioned me style, I’ve also started another minion blanket but this time its a regular yellow one made in squares to look like a retro 8 bit gaming character. Once I have some more done I will show you all some photos. However, back to Sophie for a little while longer this evening.

All happy season greetings and whatnot to those who prefer yarn over….well, most things really haha.

Evil Minion completion

I am back. I have finally, finally, after around 25,000 stitches, completed the evil minion blanket I was commissioned to do for a Christmas present. Its a paid pattern by Lucy Barnes and comes with the option for different versions (one or two eyed, eye lids etc.)

I went off the grid as I knew I would be even more distracted and would never get it done. But now I have so here I am.

Here is the blanket

Yes, it owns its own locks if hair above each eye and the eyes, hair, mouth, teether, straps, buttons emblem in the pocket and the pocket itself are all individual items that I’ve stitched on once the blanket was complete.

Grace

I’m super excited!! Just look at how pretty she is! I’m tempted to just stop here but I really want to make the full thing too…Oh the dilemma hahaha

Forgive the terrible photos. It turns out my back camera on my phone is a little broke and no longer focuses on anything except a really close close-up.

This photo is done using my front camera as that can focus but it’s super hard to get a straight picture haha.

Mystery CAL update

Here are this past weeks squares for this CAL. On the first square, I’m not sure if it should be (everyone else’s seems flat) but the flower has turned out super 3D. I love it haha

Another WIP

This one has been sat a while with just the first round of petals, so last night I decided it was time to start working on it again. You may recognize it as the ‘Blooming Flower Pillow’ but here’s the difference: I’m going to turn this into a blanket…or rug, instead of a pillow but may add a matching one at a later date.

image

I’m going expand it out to a decent size, then begin to square it off. I may use Sophie’s Universe squaring and then add an array of other borders and such and add smaller flowers like these around, we will see 😆

Grace is on her way!!

Just completed the middle panel of 49 starburst motifs. It is joined with a continuous join starting in the bottom right, zig-zagging up the row, between each, then straight down the sides of that strip…rinse and repeat round to the starting point and you have a continuous join 😄 I have marked it in that bottom right corner to make sure I don’t forget which side is the right side and which corner needs to go…

From here, the blanket is worked in the round but I’ll keep you posted as and when I complete each section 🙂

The pictures are not the best quality so you cannot full appreciate how pretty it really is.
