Part 5 Doily MCAL

I have now caught up and have completed part 5 of the Doily MCAL that is being hosted on Facebook by CALs by BG Designs.

image

It’s now a giant 28.5″ across using black dk and a 4mm hook, instead of the 1.25mm hook and crochet thread. There are still some rounds to come so it will get even bigger and then there is the canvas backing to add…..exciting times 🙂

Part 5 Wonder CAL

Just for round to doing part 5 of the Wonder CAL Blanket 2016. Just using the two colours chosen originally. 5mm hook and dk yarn, it now sits at 10.5″ in ‘height’.

This little gem is going to be super warm, soft and wintery when its done and just in time for Christmas.

Doily MCAL

So there was another pattern I came across……yes, I started it. It’s the Doily MCAL and can be found on ‘CALs by BG Designs’ over on Facebook. It is obvious that it will be a doily and its a vamped up version, modern, deco , wallart piece so I can’t wait to see what it will look like.

Here is mine so far…

Joined yesterday and just finished now. I decided to use some yarn I already had and I wanted a bigger version, so this is black dk and a 4mm hook. Its about 18″ across at the moment. It was suggested to use crochet thread and a 1.5mm (or there abouts) hook. I like to go big when doing projects hahaha. I pinned it out so the stitches can be seen clearer until its finished and backed onto canvas.

Mother’s Day

So, for weeks now I have been working on a gift for my mother for mother’s day. I decided on a centre piece for her living room wall and this is what I came up with…

It is a series of doily chart patterns found on the images section of Google. So a massive shout out to all those talented people that can write patterns and charts for others to use. Thank you! It stands at 39.5″ x 23.5″ in size and it became mixed media when I had to fill spaces (which was before I finished all the doilies hahaha).

There is beading, crochet, paper flowers, gem stones and I was very much tempted to cover the thing in glitter….everyone loves glitter, especially the mess it makes xD…

It’s not the best lighting but I had to take pictures. The colours work with my mums colour scheme, with the wood in her room and the silver/chrome work through the use of the gems. Its a mixture of cotton thread and cur change (very thin) dk and a range of hook sizes…….

….so now this is done and dusted and in time for mother’s day (finishing in the day still counts haha). Onto the next project.

Wonder CAL Part 4

Just finished part 4 of the Wonder CAL which is available via the Facebook page (named as such). Again I have only used the cream and red yarn in thus pattern and will continue to do so.

image

It now measures 9″ from top to bottom and is beautifully textured. Its working up nicely and is certainly keeping my legs warm whilst I make it 🙂

Shoulder Bag

I started this bag for myself as I really liked the look of it but as I made it, I wasn’t feeling it that great. Its a wonderful pattern but I felt it wasn’t something I’d actually use. So I decided to finish it anyway and give it to my mum for her birthday as she said she wanted it whilst I was making it. Bonus. Haha

I used DK yarn so my bag came out smaller but I was using it as a stash buster too so that’s ok. It still came out at a decent size. The pattern is the ‘Moiré Shoulder Bag’ created by Charmed by Ewe.

Completed Minion Minecraft style blanket.

Its done! Its finally, finally done. This is a commission started a while back for my nephews birthday, which is today and I have just finished sewing the last row and then working a border around it.

image

It isn’t the best photo but I didn’t have any room to take a better one and I’m not tall enough either, so its taken with me balancing in the sofa arm, holding the camera out as far as possible hahaha. This beast measures 52″ x62.5″ and I just had to weigh it as it is fairly heavy. It weighs a good kilogramme.

I’ve used worsted weight Caron One Pound yarn and a 5.5mm hook. All dome in DC stitch except the border which is sc and 3hdc in each corner. There’s 120 squares in total and lots of sewing. I worked from a picture I found on the net, although altered the stitches used. It was chosen as it works up like a Minecraft style minion and that’s the two requirements wanted 🙂 happy days.

Dutch CAL 2015 Week 13

I have now completes week 13 of this CAL. It now sits at a nice 40″ across, with another 22 weeks left of pattern. That means many more rounds as it is not one round per week.

image

image

I swear it lays flat and straight, its just a little more difficult to smooth out every time I finish a part haha.

There is a pale brown/beige sc round I’m this edge section that is worked into the front loop created between two of the other rounds, giving a more textures effect.

Not the best photo and doesn’t show to well bit it’s there and that also sits properly if I have the patience to smooth it out.

Its so warm and chunky and lovely…I can’t wait to do some more.

Wonder Blanket CAL part 2

So yesterday part 2 of this CAL (which is available on Facebook) was posted and I finished it last night after a lot of debating with myself about what colour tobuse for the last row. Should it be red? Or should I still with the cream?……

image

I went with red but I’m still in two minds as to change it. But if I stick with the red, I’m pretty sure the next part is going to stay all cream and maybe even part 4 will too, as I don’t want too much going on throughout the blanket.

As you may know, this CAL lasts until November (if I can keep going for that long haha) and so it will be a Christmas theme blanket, or at least that’s what I’m going for with the colour choice, when it first began. Hopefully I don’t make the great pattern look pants by my colour placement but I will not know until then so its all a surprise for everyone.
