Saving the world, one crafty thing at a time

Still alive and kicking

It’s been one of those weeks this week. Everything as decided to happen. Two deadlines for two university essays, all my children being riotous, with one deciding that sleep no longer exists on this planet of existence and therefore no-one else needs so. She will not go down for naps, she will not go to bed and when she does eventually stop screaming over an hour after she’s been put down to sleep, she wakes from anywhere around 11 to scream the place down until 5 when we come downstairs in the morning. No-one is sleeping in this household! Hopefully it’s only temporary and it will stop quite sharpish.

It should make me happier as it means more crochet time technically but any time that’s free is going into finishing my essays but on a high point, I do have a week of no work before the next module so super lots of crafting to take place there haha.

Hoping everyone else us doing well and maybe having a bit more fun than me! 😆

Liebster Award

So I have been nominated for this award…which us GREAT!! Haha. And I promise to do this properly when I get to a pc rather than my phone. But just a shout out to say a massive thanks to Bessie V over at shellesandbobbles for the nomination and to say I promise promise promise I wasn’t being rude, I just can’t do it properly from my phone but I do acknowledge this. So again thank you, you gem of a super star!!

Poncho

Finished on the two rectangles for now. Just waiting on part 8 to be released. As I previously mentioned, this round was using the x-stitch and it works up super quick with get affects 🙂

Updated Scheepjes CAL

Haven’t been able to finish the shawl all in one f go. Needed to change projects otherwise I would have just left it unfinished. I have done almost half so far, so here is my little Orphean Warbler 😁

There are 65 motifs altogether and I have done the following so far. Each row has 13 motifs to it.

Row 1: 8 motifs
Row 2: 7 motifs
Row 3: 6 motifs
Row 4: 5 motifs … So far. Now just to slowly do the rest of these 4 rows and all of row 5 and border.

Poncho part 7

Today had the release of the next part of the CAL. It consisted of using the X-stitch. This involves missing the first stitch, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch, repeated across the row. I’ve don’t the first rectangle and I just have to wait for the second to dry before doing that one.

Newest Square

Here us the newest square to the Mystery CAL I am currently doing (see pages for more info). Again using a 4.5mm instead of 5.5 mm and getting 5″ squares. I’m just loving how it is going and can’t wait for the next one released on Wednesday, so keep in the loop.

I’m also planning on maybe doing another using the more neural squares for a male themed version and substituting the more delicate flowery ones for some robust ones, so will have to seach for those at a later date.

Moogly Block 4

I’ve completed block 4 for this CAL. It’s been on the back burner for a little while now and as I was catching up on lots of WIPe today, I thought I’d finish this one up.

I altered the last round as I truely didn’t get along with it, so instead I just simplified it down to dc around with tr in each dip if the last border and on the insides of corners.

It is dark blue and beige and measures 10″ like the others I have done now. It needs to be blocked to flattern it out but other than that, I’m happy 😄

Fall Poncho CAL

Yes, it’s another CAL 😄 this time it’s a fall poncho courtesy of Crochet Memoeries and Country Willow (hoping I got that correct).

It is made of two identical rectangles with a multitude of different stitches giving a great texture that is always changing. I’m using DK I’m burgundy and black and it remeinds me of cold, dark, Autumn nights, sitting under a blanket by the fire and falling leaves…and bonfire toffee haha. It uses a 5mm hook (which is the second option giving a size 2 which is American termings for sizes, the other being a size 6 and 6mm hook with worsted (I think) yarb- both of which are child sizes). So far it seems to be following the correct gauge but whether it fits my daughter or not is a different matter.

I’ve finished the first rectangle and almost the second whichni started today as I’d finished the first yesterday and rather than waiting to finish in completely then start the secin, they will both be done for part 9 which is joing. Currently we are at part 6.

It does sit straight and flat really, it’s just laid across my lap at the moment 😀

What’s everyone working on? And what’s your favourite place to hook, knit, sew, you name?

Just one more….

I found another CAL. This time it is a mystery CAL although it is known that it will be a lapghan measuring 36×36″ when finished. I don’t think this counts the border, however many participants have thought about doing more squares to make it larger, including myself. The patterns are courtesy of 36 different designers and can be found via the Facebook page Crochet With Us.

I’ve gone with black and bright pink (not quite bright pink but more so than baby pink, the pictures don’t show it best) in DK and a 4.5mm hook, compared with the suggested 5.5mm hook and Aran yarn, therefore my squares are finishing out at 5×5″ which us fine with me. I may keep it at 30×30 in the end or I may add double squares so 74 in all compared with the 36 (numbers are correct, the first block had an easy option as well as an advanced one and because I liked both, I did both :)).

The single pictures are in correct order, the first two singles being the easy option followed by the advanced one, then ‘block 2’ being the c2c and the third (or forluth if I was to be picky) is the startburst type square. Will keep you posted 🙂 as well as create a separate page, so check there for updates.
